「次世代グローバルCFOのための実践力養成講座」第9回開催

弊社では、次世代グローバルCFOのための実践力養成講座と題して、英語でのフィナンシャルマネジメントスキル向上の実践力をつけていただく研修を、12回のシリーズで、新日本監査法人と共催で実施しております。

9月5日（金）は第9回目が開催されました。

講師は、在日米国商工会議所（ACCJ, American Chamber of Commerce in Japan)の元会頭（CEO)で、現在も名誉会頭を務めておられるトーマス・W・ウィットソン（Thomas W. Whitson）さん。 レクチャーも参加者のみなさんのアウトプットもすべて英語ですが、日本での滞在経験が長いウィットソンさんは、片言の日本語を混ぜながら、ユーモアたっぷりに、中身の濃いセッションをリードしてくださいます。

最初は、英語での発信に不慣れなためか、ぎこちなかった参加者のみなさんも、4回目くらいからは徐々に発信頻度が高まり、9回目ともなると臆することなく、みなさん話されるようになってきています。

実は、12回シリーズで企画したポイントは、ここだったんです。

一般的に行われているほとんどの研修はレクチャー方式で、ナレッジ（知識）提供型。 ケースを提示して、ディスカッションを採用といっても、短時間であれば、参加者は「こなして」しまうんです。なかなか、覚悟をして本気でアウトプットができない。

でも、12回となると、開き直って地力でなんとかしないと、その場にいること自体が苦痛。 英語が苦手でも、話したい、伝えたいことがあると、「えいっ！」勇気を出して話し出す。

この「えいっ！」が、多くの日本人が苦手としているところだと感じていて、参加者のみなさんに「えいっ！」を体験して、ストレッチしてもらうことが狙いです。

また、開始時間が18:30～20:30の2時間ですが、後半30分は、フリーディスカッション、Q&Aの時間。そこでは、ビールとスナックも出して、和気藹々と、でも英語で話をします。

ここでも、文法だとか、専門用語だとかの不安を、ビールの助けもあって、「えいっ！」の連続。 筋肉のストレッチと同様に、その英語思考、発信は脳の英語回路は覚えているので、ストレッチした経験は次に活かせます。

そういう意味では、講師といい、運営の仕方といい、とてもユニークだと思っています。

1 . 6月20日（金） Introduction and overview

Outline the course, distribute materials, introduce speakers, double check which topics are most interesting, etc.

2 . 6月27日（金） Managerial accounts

What do they measure? How are they used for control? discuss managerial accounting; need to tailor to each business; set and follow KPIs

3. 7月 4日（金） Financial reporting

What do your auditors really do? how can you get your auditors to provide you with information that will help you do your job

4. 7月11日（金） Investor relations

Why tell outsiders anything? how to present information; how to handle analyst calls; dealing with regulatory matters

5. 7月25日（金） Financial analysis

How do the professionals do it? compare analysis of one Japanese global company by 2 different stock analysts (discuss Yuho)

6. 8月 1日（金） Subsidiary reporting

What should you expect? how does a foreign culture affect reporting; how to avoid surprises

7 . 8月22日（金） Internal control

How does “tone at the top” affect internal control? how is internal control different in different countries; how to get early insight into risks

8. 8月29日（金） Your outside advisors

Why do they cost so much and how to control them? how to get the most benefit from your banker, your attorney, your tax advisor, your CPA

9. 9月 5日（金） Environmental risk

What is the real problem? how to insure you meet local standards appropriately; identify political and scientific agendas

10. 9月12日（金） Overseas employees

How to keep Japanese staff safe and sane? what infrastructure, training and other elements help your Japanese staff overseas maintain high efficiency and satisfaction; what reentry strategy do you have for their return

11. 9月19日（金） HR compliance

How to avoid getting front page newspaper coverage? where do HR problems originate; how do you train Japanese staff in local customs; what career paths should you offer local staff

12. 9月26日（金） Supply chain integrity

How does an earthquake in Japan shut down a GM factory in Flint Michigan? basic knowledge about the supply chain; assessing risks at each level; diversified sourcing; supply chain audits
